Overall, a significant association was found between ERCC2Asp312Asn polymorphism and esophageal cancer susceptibility for GA vs. GG (OR = 1.20, 95 % CI = 1.03-1.40) and for the dominant model GA/AA vs. GG (OR = 1.18, 95 % CI = 1.03-1.35).
Genetic variants in ERCC2 and ERCC4 may provide further survival prediction in addition to TNM staging system of esophageal cancer, which is more evident in the patients with early disease status.
In this analysis, small associations of the XPDLys 751 Gln polymorphism with cancer risk for esophageal cancer [for Lys/Gln versus Lys/Lys: odds ratio (OR), 1.34; 95% confidence interval (95% CI), 1.10-1.64; for Gln/Gln versus Lys/Lys: OR, 1.61; 95% CI, 1.16-2.25] and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (for Gln/Gln versus Lys/Lys: OR, 1.83; 95% CI, 1.21-2.75) are revealed.
